On 24th October, from 5pm to 7.30pm, in celebration of Diwali, the Indian Festival of Lights, WeWork’s Devonshire Square will be hosting in its Western Courtyard a FREE attendance festival – curated and organised by the Devonshire Square Events Team - showcasing some of India’s most traditional visual arts, Rangoli, and a dance show performed by some of the finest Indian folk and classical dancers in UK.

During the event, guests will also be treated to a complimentary tasting experience of Indian celebratory sweets and canapés, courtesy of Devonshire Square’s iconic Indian restaurant, Cinnamon Kitchen.

The tasting banquet will include the “Odyssey Rose Nectar”, an exquisitely delicate, velvety drink inspired by traditional Indian rose milk made with pure rose essence, exclusively created for Diwali by Cinnamon Kitchen’s mixology artists.

The original Rangoli artwork that will decorate the Georgian limestone of Devonshire Square’s Western Courtyard, will be created on site by award-winning Rangoli artist Miguel Rajaguru.

The artist has been commissioned by Devonshire Square the creation of an artwork representing the strikingly beautiful and rare Kaiser-i-Hind butterfly, an endangered insect – which name means “emperor of India” - with a unique green iridescence on its wings which has fascinated scientists from all over the world. The species can only be found in some areas of the Asian continent.

Inspired by the meaning of Diwali, which celebrates the triumph of good over evil, the artwork is meant to symbolise rebirth and positive transformation while conveying the topical message of protecting the ecosystems from the impact of human intervention, as this vibrant, delicate creature faces a real threat of extinction due to unsustainable wildlife trading.

Renowned London-based dance organization, Akademi South Asian Dance UK, will present an imaginative journey through the enthralling diversity of Indian regions, from the Western coast to the North of India, whose traditions and legends will be narrated through the language of dance in an aesthetic and captivating way. The show will include Rajasthani Folk dances, Kathak and Dandiya Raas, executed by dancers from ANKH Dance, Sarjan Nartan Academy and DancenBeats.

The event is free to attend, however, registration via Eventbrite is required.
