Love films? Interested in science? As part of its public film screenings with a science twist this Halloween, The Francis Crick Institute is showing the apocalyptic action horror film, World War Z.
Get ready to be scared as the film brings to life the story of a lethal virus which spreads through a single bite and turns humans into zombies. Join Gerry Lane (Brad Pitt), a former UN investigator, on a worldwide hunt for patient zero and a way to stop the outbreak.
After the film you’ll be able to take part in a discussion with Saira Hussain, a postdoctoral researcher who works in The Worldwide Influenza Centre at The Francis Crick Institute and Professor of Mathematical Biology, Edward Codling from the University of Essex. They’ll talk about aspects of the film which resonate with their areas of research from the surveillance of flu to how crowds behave in specific situations.
This public event series is a chance for visitors to watch a compelling drama and explore the themes in the film through discussions or demonstrations with speakers from the Crick and beyond – with complimentary popcorn too!
Join us at The Francis Crick Institute this Halloween – if you dare!
