"An evening of the latest and greatest films, stories and accomplishments from the world of adventure."

With our expert panel primed and a fresh deluge of cinematography from the curators of Kendal Mountain Festival, Audience with Adventure returns for our fourth year - bringing an opportunity to completely immerse yourself in stories of human endurance, breathtaking environments and soul-stirring journeys.

What’s the plan?

The Rooftop Garden will open at 1800, welcoming you into its cosy embrace with roaring campfires and the opportunity to grab a hot toddy. You’ll then descend into our underground screening area and films will start rolling at 1900. The discussion and Q&A session will break up the viewings, offering the perfect opportunity to really explore the evenings theme with our special guest panel. A great chance to catch up with friends, both old and new, we’ll keep the bar propped up until around 2300. From there… well, we’ll just wait and see where the night takes us!

The Films

The next few weeks will see submissions from all over the adventure world hit the desks of the Kendal team. They’re responsible for the first sift, but then it’s over to us to pick our favourites. We’re eagerly awaiting the reveal our 2019 lineup, but in the meantime, keep an eye out for updates.

The Discussion

We’ve covered adventure from almost every angle; from behind the scenes to the famous faces in front of them. From responsible travelling and the importance of sustainability to bringing epic world firsts to the attention of the masses. Most recently we’ve explored culture, ethics and how we impact those around us… now it’s time we talked about you.

The Panel

Our signature twist to the tried and tested film night format, our expert panel will feature a selection of brilliant adventurers from across the industry. Drawn to them for their varying experiences, we hope they will be the inspiration and driving force behind your next adventure.

Food and Drink

A pocket of wilderness in the urban landscape, the Midnight Apothecary will be serving lovingly prepared botanical cocktails and local craft drinks. Concocted by the incredibly talented ‘Cocktail Gardener’, Lottie Muir from foraged ingredients, the drinks menu is seasonal and is sure to should provide something for everyone’s tastes. As if that wasn’t enough, we’ve roped in the help of resident street food vendors, Piccalilli Caff, who will be rustling up some scrumptious, warming treats to keep you going. Don’t forget to bring cash!

Venue

Scheduled monument, International landmark and the oldest tunnel of the oldest underground network in the world; this year’s festival will be hosted in the historical Brunel Museum. The Museum’s Grand Entrance Hall was the world’s first underground theatre and, before the noises of passing trains filled the space, the chamber echoed with applause for acrobats, tightrope walkers and serenaders. Under the National Heritage Landmarks Partnership Scheme, the Museum revamped this space, creating a spectacularly atmospheric new gallery and reviving the underground theatre.

In the spirit of adventure, we recommend you wrap up warm as once you're away from the heat of the firepits, the tunnel will feel quite chilly. We want to see plenty of down jackets, bobble hats and fluffy socks!
