Miloš Forman, Oscar winning film director and charismatic storyteller spins with gusto his American-style success story exploring the twists of fate and turning them into a narrative of one individual's never-ending fight for freedom against authority. An orphan after he lost his parents to concentration camps, Forman became a leading Czechoslovak New Wave filmmaker only to start all over again in America following his emigration. His impoverished early years in the Chelsea Hotel in New York are juxtaposed with Hollywood success with the Oscar winning One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest and Amadeus, and his own testimony with that of Michael Douglas and others. In a revelatory collage of rare private and official archives, together with autobiographical memories narrated by his son Petr, Forman muses on his love of film and freedom revealing a courageous artist unafraid to question himself. Premiered at Cannes Classics 2019.
