Jazz up Your Evening This Thursday with the Cool Playing’s of James Morton

Thursday nights are for the soul. Every other week, immerse yourself with soulful sounds from Neo-soul, acoustic, and house to R&B, Jazz and Blues. Whether you’re a long time Jazz lover or a total newbie, instantly come alive with The Soak’s Thursday Sessions series. Pair each musical experience with a Soaked Cocktail, or perhaps a Twist on Classic, and get absorbed in the action at the magnificent oval bar.

Forget about those drizzly days and cooling temperatures. Situated next door to Victoria Station, the beautiful arched windows and high ceilings inherits its history from the stunning Grade II listed building that surrounds it. It seems only fair to fill such a beautiful space with transformative music and wonderful conversation. Whether it be for a catch up with friends, a date night, or simply to enjoy James Morton’s vocal-toned, riff-driven soul and funk, make The Soak your Thursday evening tradition.

This week, join us for the pioneering talents of James Morton, one of the most promising saxophonists on the scene today. He performed his first gig at the age of 12 and it wasn’t long before he graced the Jazz/World Music stage at Glastonbury. After such success at one of the UK’s biggest contemporary festivals, the global stage was next, and James’ talent saw him travel the globe to perform at festivals across Europe and America. In 2010, James was recruited by The Herbaliser as a full member and continues to tour and record with the outfit extensively.

Porkchop, a sax fronted Hammond organ quartet fronted by Morton, released the album “Don’t You Worry ‘Bout That” in 2010. James had indeed nothing to worry ‘bout as the album was critically acclaimed, and his highly anticipated solo album The Kid was released in 2016. Throughout his career, James has worked with some of the world’s best known and exciting artists, including Kasabian, Rahael Saadiq, Pendulum, and George Clinton. This saxophonist phenomenon is not to be missed.

Join us for free on Thursday 14th November at 8:00pm until 12:00am as James Morton brings to life The Kid featuring Ian Matthews and Tanya Lacey. Once taken on your soulful journey, continue to indulge with more lavish cocktails and conversation until 2:00am. This is going to be a night of funky, soulful music with inspiration from Jazz, Gospel, Soul and Funk.
