Acclaimed sculptor, Nic Joly, will unveil his latest collection The Writing’s On The Wall at a newly-opened London gallery this week.
The artist will be at Castle Fine Art‘s flagship London gallery on South Molton Street on Thursday (5th December) from 6pm until 8pm, offering visitors the chance to meet him and to learn about the ideas and inspiration behind the body of work.

Whilst Joly’s subject matter varies between his collections, The Writing’s On The Wall sees him maintain the usual humour and bold style that he has become recognised for. The collection represents a milestone for Joly, who calculates he is approaching the 10,000 hour mark since he began to work full time as an artist.

Originally an amateur sculptor who crafted miniature sculptures to amuse his children, Joly soon became a professional artist with a goal to spread a satirical message. Within his dioramas, he seeks to parody and expose his chosen subject matters, defying taboos and restrictions enforced by society.

Nic Joly said: “I started at 18, working in a jewellery workshop, and that grounding shaped how I work today. Making, thinking, and creating – all at the same time. I’m very lucky to have found a vehicle in the little people I make that allows me to work in a way that I love.”

Jessica Johns, gallery manager at Castle Fine Art, South Molton Street, said: “Nic’s work has always been extremely popular, as the way he uses humour to transmit a message is something many people can relate to.
“We cannot wait to welcome Nic to the gallery to unveil his latest works. The sculptures have been created to the finest quality and really have to be viewed in person to be fully appreciated.”
