Joanna Songi (soprano)

This lecture examines Cleopatra’s life and how different composers have depicted her. Including well-known arias such as Handel’s “Da tempeste il legno infranto” and “Piangerò la sorte mia”, as well as lesser known gems such as Massenet’s “J’ai versé le poison”. Cleopatra’s dramatic life provides rich inspiration for an operatic work, and each portrayal brings out different aspects of her character. Join us to explore the mystery of Cleopatra.

Opera Prelude is a small charity passionate about supporting young professional opera singers who give recitals in London. These friendly and inclusive events will introduce you to the international opera singers of tomorrow by way of recitals, concerts and masterclasses.
