About the event

What is television now? Is it the BBC? Is it Netflix? Is it YouTube? Will it be Quick Bites? What does the future of the Box look like?

Producers of television can address global audiences on the one hand and niche viewers on the other. Whether speaking to specific communities in an authentic voice or reaching for an inclusive and realistic vision of modern society in global shows, television needs to be more diverse than ever.

In this country, major broadcasters are waking up to the need for diversity behind and in front of the camera. Diversity is the future. Employment opportunities are opening up in new ways as platforms for all the old and new forms of television multiply.

Do you love television? Have you thought about working in the industry? Do you feel it represents you? Do you feel that it's for you?

Join us for our debate on the future of television, with the broadcasting supremo, Pat Younge, (former BBC Chief Creative Officer) and speakers from Blakademik's YouTube channel, the leading broadcasters Jordan Jarrett-Bryan, Claudia-Liza Armah and Tsedenia Skitch. They will be hosted by LCC's Screen School Associate Dean, the producer and writer Lucy Brown and the documentary producer/director Susan Shaw.

This event is taking place as part of ‘Sound & Cinema: Past, Present & Future’ – an exhibition and events programme presented by London College of Communication’s Screen School spanning film, VR, games, TV and sound celebrating 125 years of diversity and creativity within the College.
