#FakeNews is an exhibition presented by contemporary arts organisation ArtCan, a group show of artworks that probe language, identity, consumer culture, sustainability, climate change, inequality and immigration.

Thirty artists will present their response to issues affecting today’s society, across a range of mediums. Figurative and abstract paintings feature alongside satirical and political works, mixed media, screenprinting and photography, as well as sculpture and 3D pieces. Some artists have created work from pre-used objects and materials, there are works exploring visual overload and multi-media mayhem, portraits that consider British identity and cultural differences, landscapes that have been affected by climate change. There will also be a piece of live performance art that investigates the role of females in today’s society and will be shown on opening night.

At the Private View, on Thursday 8 February, special guest and local artist Ben Wilson will be outside Offshoot Gallery creating a chewing gum painting referencing the show.

The exhibition is curated by Artists Lisa Price and Rosha Nutt, and Arts Marketing Consultant Holly Collier. All three Curators are local to Offshoot Gallery and artists or volunteers of ArtCan.
