“What power have you got? Where did you get it from? How do we get rid of you? If you cannot get rid of the people who govern you, you do not live in a democratic system.” Tony Benn

Join us for an interactive lecture and discussion on The Neurology of Power, an interdisciplinary project by Suzanne Alleyne.

The lecture will feature a starter’s guide to how our brains work and what is already known about how power manifests in them.

This will be followed by a discussion delving into preconceptions of how ‘success’ and ‘power’ affect our mindsets, what is happening in our brains when we acquire or lose power and what this might mean for our own power and agency. Together we will consider how neurology can help us rethink established systems of power that affect who gets to speak and be heard in society – and, by extension – the cultural industries.
