We're sure you don't need us to tell you that the dramatic spread of the Coronavirus infection throughout the UK is testing the NHS in ways it's never faced before. For most of us the 'Your country needs you' slogan was a pop culture soundbite up until recently, as it's quickly become apparent that without mass effort from within our communities our beloved healthcare provider will collapse.
By far the most important (and easiest) thing we can do is stay home, but for those of us who are able to there are plenty of opportunities to give others a helping hand. If you have a vehicle you can pick up and drop off food shopping and medication, drive patients around, or transport medical supplies between NHS services (observing social distancing guidelines obviously).
Alternatively you could register to give telephone support to people at risk of becoming isolated, prepare hot meals, or donate.
Local Mutual Aid groups and the links below are good places to find out what you can do.
