As the UK comedy scene loses several of its leading clubs over the next few weeks, Darrell Martin’s critically acclaimed Just the Tonic grows from strength to strength and expands in its London residence, the Leicester Square Theatre, to provide the best comics on the circuit on both Friday and Saturday nights.

The club began in Nottingham over 16 years ago, boasting some of the top comics of the time; Matt Lucas, Al Murray, Ed Byrne, Bill Bailey, Stewart Lee, Mark Thomas, Simon Pegg, Noel Fielding and Dylan Moran are just a few who have treaded the Tonic boards over the years, with Ross Noble, Daniel Kitson and Johnny Vegas all regular comperes at the club. In 2006, comics as big as Ricky Gervais (who debuted his first ever stand-up at the club), Jimmy Carr and Russell Brand came together to perform at ‘Save Just The Tonic’, two benefit nights staged at London’s Dominion Theatre to help raise cash to save the club when it’s Nottingham venue was under threat.

Hosted by one of London’s most up and coming central spots, the Leicester Square Theatre which boasts a 400+ capacity in one of the most comfortable comedy venues in the capital, the next few weeks prove to be no exception to the outstanding quality of Just the Tonic; Phil Kay, Chris Addison, Rob rouse, Pete Firman, Sarah Millican, Carl Donnelly, Josie Long, Brendan Burns, Andrew Lawrence, Adam Bloom, Milton Jones and Nina Conti are but a few of the faces appearing before Christmas...
