Do we need a little madness to set us free, or just a little freedom to be mad? Barmy Park presents a fortnight of art, performance, poetry, music and events that explore madness in art and its potential to liberate thinking.

The name Barmy Park harks back to the history of the site as a ‘private madhouse’ between 1727 and 1922. The Green in front of the venue (Bethnal Green Library) is still called ‘Barmy Park’ by local East Enders.

Barmy Park brings together 30 artists and performers who tackle the taboos surrounding mental health issues while others do what they do best – offering a refreshingly leftfield perspective on life.
The show is curated by Nicole Wassall and Imogen O'Rorke in collaboration with Core Arts. The artists include:
Bobby Baker, Brendan Quick and Geraldine Swayne, Ian Bruce, Imogen O’Rorke, Lee Holden, Nicole Wassall, Olivia Reynolds, Paul Sakoilsky, Valentin Hertweck and more...
