A 12 day showcase of the world’s best new films, the BFI London Film Festival is one of the most anticipated events in London's cultural calendar.
The 61st BFI London Film Festival in partnership with American Express® is delighted to announce that this year’s Opening Night film will be Breathe, the tale of adventurous and charismatic, Robin Cavendish (Andrew Garfield) who has his whole life ahead of him when he is paralysed by polio whilst in Africa and given just months to live.
The film will receive its European premiere on Wednesday 4 October at the Odeon Leicester Square, attended by cast and filmmakers with Andrew Garfield, Diana Rigg, Claire Foy and Andy Serkis expected on the red carpet. There will be a live cinecast from the London event and simultaneous screenings taking place at cinemas across the UK.
This year’s Closing Night gala will be Martin McDonagh’s Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. The film will receive its European premiere on Sunday 15 October at the Odeon Leicester Square, attended by cast and filmmakers.
