A 12 day showcase of the world’s best new films, the BFI London Film Festival is one of the most anticipated events in London's cultural calendar.
The 62nd BFI London Film Festival in partnership with American Express® is delighted to announce that this year’s Opening Night film will be Academy Award-winner Steve McQueen’s Widows. Co-written by McQueen and best-selling novelist and screenwriter Gillian Flynn and starring Academy Award-winner Viola Davis, Widows is a complex thriller about a group of women with nothing in common except a debt left behind by their dead husbands’ criminal activities.
The film will receive its International premiere on 10 October at Cineworld Leicester Square, attended by cast.
This year’s Closing Night gala will be Stan & Ollie. The film will receive its World premiere on 21 October at Cineworld Leicester Square, attended by Steve Coogan and John C. Reilly, who star as the legendary movie comedy duo.
