ArtHAUS is a unique show which uses the physical exhibition space to bridge the gap between contemporary art and interior design, showing people how art and design can transform everyday living. ArtHAUS sees the DegreeArt building transformed into an apartment, divided into 5 rooms, in which bespoke designers, pioneering products, ethical creatives, and up-and-coming artists, populate the space.

For the staging of the exhibition, DegreeArt will be collaborating with a number of innovative organisations including:

• Community Re-Paint, an employee-owned, non-profit network of paint re-use schemes across the country
• Design Box London, the high-end interior design service, renowned for their work on the Belgravia salon of stylist, Errol Douglas – famous for his work in Vogue, and the styling of Naomi Campbell, Brad Pitt, and Cindy Crawford
• In.Spitalfields the top home furnishings retailer, located in Old Spitalfields Market, noted for its unique method of ‘upcycling’
• And vintage retro furniture specialists, Retro Zebra Furniture, whose range of Danish and British designs span from the 1950s to the modern day.

The five dynamic rooms through which visitors are invited to wander – including a living area, bedroom, dining room, kitchen, and bathroom – will be decorated by art work from DegreeArt’s talented young artists. Noted artists include Lorna May Wadsworth, whose paintings have appeared in many publications, including the Vogue Italia and the Stylist, and the photographer, Umit Koseoglu, who has been featured by The Times.

The East London location of ArtHAUS is integral to the themes of the show, as it highlights the social value of re-using objects and products for the home. In addition, a number of the artists reside and work in the area, and ArtHAUS seeks to incorporate their vision of London within the interior space.
