Solo Exhibition by artist Deborah Cumming at No Format Gallery

A new twist to an old theme.

London, 28 June – 8 July, 2012 – No Format Gallery will hold a solo exhibition for artist Deborah Cumming.

Matthew Wood, director of Second Floor Studios & Arts and No Format Gallery said: “Deborah’s grid landscape paintings force the viewer to switch between two opposing styles within a single painting. The grids provide a strong design element to an otherwise traditional landscape painting. Her still life paintings are simple, uncluttered examples of beauty and artistic craftsmanship. These works fit well with the cutting edge philosophy of the gallery”.

The aim of the grid landscape paintings is to provide another way of looking at what we already know. As a nod to the Dutch Masters, the still lifes bring realisim and intimacy to simple objects displayed against a contrasting background.
