Over the week beginning 11th June a series of free, interactive workshops will take place across several of the capital’s finest sporting venues, including Wembley, Twickenham, the KIA Oval and more, all aimed at anyone who wants to make a difference to sport and physical activity in their local communities.

Over 50% of adults in England say they’d like to play more sport, but many people don’t feel they have the time, money or confidence to get involved in a formal setting.

Sport Maker ambassadors, including past medallists and 2012 Olympic hopefuls, will join forces with trained facilitators to pass on the skills, knowledge and support needed for anyone to be able to get involved and make a difference to their community by helping to run local activities, or even setting up some of their own!

All participants will be introduced to clubs and organisations that need their help, given the opportunity to join forces with other Sport Makers, and are presented with their own free Adidas kit to help along the way.

Backed by the British Olympic Association and £4 million of National Lottery funding, Sport Makers is for people aged 16 and over and is part of the Places People Play legacy programme that is bringing the magic of a home Olympic and Paralympic Games into communities across the country.

Sir Steve, our greatest Olympian, is the National Ambassador for Sport Makers said:

“You don’t need medals to become a sporting hero. By helping people you know to get involved in sport you’ll be doing something amazing for your friends and local community as well as having fun yourself.

The thing I want to see more than anything is more people out enjoying what sport has to offer, but we need your help to make it happen.”
