"I am a London based artist, working in a variety of techniques and mediums. I am currently working on my next series of Land/seascapes.

My work is a response to intangible moments of interest and beauty. Time, memory, perceptions, influences and effects. elements which create moods, atmospheres and 'realities'.

Capturing the variations of these moments- the relationships between interchanging & interacting elements, what makes them & influences them. We all perceive the world, & our world differently. Art is about translating an impression to communicate through these spaces. Processes, fragments and movement.

The journeys & experiences in life gather memories and imprint feelings and associations to things, they question what we are made up of on all levels- chaos and order, on small and large scales influence our lives- the complexities that evoke emotions, the mind, changes and processes. Distances, spaces & barriers between people and in the world." - Alexandra Brace

"In 2010, I commissioned Alexandra to make a landscape in seven parts inspired by the Malvern Hills and the seven divisions of the day defined by the life of monks living according to the rule of St. Benedict. And so she sees a section of those hills which have inspired so many artists and poets as the light of day falls to change them and give them new meaning. She is very aware that she has to inject an element of time passing into the manifestation of landscape and that the changing light is all important.

Alexandra’s first solo exhibition provides proof of her commitment to the art of painting, I look forward to the way she uses her love of landscape." - Richard Demarco CBE OBE Hon. RSA

Alexandra, like many artists, does not want to define her work, preferring to let her viewers come to their own conclusions. When pressed about her landscapes, she is a little more forthcoming: "I try to create a richness and beauty in these ‘worlds’. They try to capture and reflect intangible atmospheres, and transient moments of interest and beauty. Through the play of colour, texture and light, I am seeking to fabricate environments that have a timeless quality, where you don’t know if the surface is sea or land- or indeed whether you are in fact on or under the surface."

Ambiguity is, then, an important element of Alexandra’s landscapes. Her brush strokes can appear abstract, yet they suggest structural forms, cityscapes, boats, mountains and trees. These faint images, do not dominate the landscape, but they are there.
