On Sunday June 3rd, 2012, one of the largest flotillas ever seen on the river will be sailing down the Thames in celebration of sixty years of the Queen’s reign. It will be an amazing spectacle with every type of vessel from canoes and rowing boats to historic sailing boats and herald boats taking part, and all decorated for the occasion. Her Majesty The Queen will be leading the pageant from aboard the royal barge, the Spirit of Chartwell, and taking the royal salute at Tower Bridge.

As the world tunes in to watch events unfold on the television and Londoners jostle for what space they can find by the river, Butlers’ Wharf Chop House will be welcoming diners to its terrace with a patriotic glass of sparkling English wine. Could there be a better place to watch the pageant than in the shadow of Tower Bridge, from the comfort of Butlers’ Wharf Chop House and its own Thameside tables?

Reservations are now being taken for the Chop House’s Diamond Jubilee ‘Garden Party’ lunch. It doesn’t get more celebratory than the menu that’s been created for the occasion. From the chilled glass of Chapel Down to kick proceedings off to the wonderful ‘Jubilee Trifle’ with ‘Champagne’ Jelly for dessert, the menu is a showcase for the ‘best of British’ produce. There will be smoked eel, Colchester crab, native lobster, Norfolk asparagus, Jersey Royals, elderflower jelly, Jersey cream, even Somerset truffles – glorious and quietly luxurious ingredients that the country can be proud of. The lunch menu costs £225 per person for a window or terrace table and £195 per person at all other tables. The price is inclusive of English sparkling wine on arrival, canapés, a four-course menu, wine (half a bottle p.p.), water, tea or coffee.
