CLAVE LATINA FESTIVAL, created/developed by Ola Latina is back for its 2nd installment with an even bigger event in both London and Brighton with international guests from the US, Latin America and Europe the Festival aims to highlight and promote the rich cultural, artistic and historical aspects of the Salsa genre.

My Name is Celia Cruz about the late Celia Cruz known as The Queen of Salsa/La Reina, with a career spanning for over 6 decades. From humble beginnings in Havana-Cuba, Celia Cruz became a world renowned artist and the undisputed Queen of Latin Music. This intimate documentary originally filmed for the BBC TVs Arena series (1986), weaves together interviews with “La Reina” featuring live performances and footage from her life in Cuba and the US. The live concert at the Apollo Theatre, Harlem, was produced exclusively for the documentary and features interviews with her husband, Pedro Knight, Rogelio Martínez, Tito Puente, Johnny Pacheco, and Ralph Mercado her manager/friend and promoter. With a career spanning over 6 decades, Cruz will be remembered not only for her fabulous flamenco frocks which reflected her larger than life personality but also for her powerful voice and being one of few women to succeed in the male dominated world of Salsa. The documentary will be presented by Sue Steward, writer and broadcaster on world/fringe music and author of Salsa - Musical Heartbeat of Latin America.

An unmissable event for anyone interested in Latin music, art and culture.
