About the event
Graduate Double Bill
Directed by Nona Shepphard
On Board with RADA is a company of six RADA graduates presenting an exciting double bill of two classic pieces; Shakespeare’s Merchant of Venice and Chaucer’s The Canterbury Tales. Both pieces have been especially created and abridged by RADA Associate Director Nona Shepphard to play in the Royal Court Theatre on the Queen Mary II, as part of the programme between RADA and Cunard that is now in its ninth year.
Chaucer’s bawdy, moral, rambunctious and mythic tales, told by a raggletaggle musical band of pilgrims on their way to Canterbury, contrasts delightfully with Shakespeare’s tragicomedy featuring one of his most famous characters Shylock, demanding his pound of Antonio’s flesh at the Duke’s court in Venice.
There are just 5 performances of this unique double bill, which lasts 2 ½ hours with an interval.
On Friday 29th June, you can choose to see a single performance of either The Canterbury Tales or The Merchant of Venice. Please note that this matinee will also run as a double bill.
