Is it possible to make a machine ‘see’ and understand the world in a similar way to us? Do advanced levels of computer vision make these machines intelligent? Join Professor Philip Torr to discover how we have developed machines with such capabilities and how these technological advances may influence our lives.

Professor Philip Torr is Head of the Computer Vision Group at Oxford Brookes University. He was awarded the Royal Society Wolfson Research Merit Award in 2008 for his groundbreaking work on computer vision.

Café Scientifique events aim to provide a forum for the debate and discussion of scientific ideas, audience participation is strongly encouraged. Food and drink will be available to purchase throughout the event. Admission will be on a first-come-first-served basis.
