In a pre-industrial, God fearing, rural village, a young woman struggles to find a language that corresponds with her feelings. Her ploughman husband dissuades her from learning anything that God hasn’t given her from birth but on a visit to the mill her eyes are opened irreversibly.

There she meets Gilbert Horn, a feared outsider, and embarks on a journey into the unknown – a journey which will ultimately lead to lust, hatred and murder....

A deeply atmospheric and moving play that considers the radical social change that language can bring about.

Following the success in Bristol, the production is coming to London for two nights only. Not to be missed!
