World renowned artist Alex Echo will be painting live at Artica Galleries on Saturday 7th July from 3-6pm, the exhibition of works will continue in the gallery until Friday 15th July.

Marking the launch of three brand new limited editions, Echo’s much-anticipated visit to Artica Galleries, Covent Garden offers a chance to meet the acclaimed artist as well as learn about the inspiration behind the latest pieces. Echo will also demonstrate his skills as he talks us through the process in how he creates these beautiful works.

Echo's abstract artwork is created from a new language of technique and style, playing with colour, light, movement and emotion. A high glaze finish is added to these colourful works, creating a striking impression that is full of energy and vibrancy.

Born in Colorado and now living in the UK, Echo is known for using a unique perceptive and palate of colour to create complex yet extraordinary works of contemporary art. Combining his knowledge of art history with references to popular culture and iconography, his stunning works are inventive and accessible.

Commenting on his own masterpieces, Echo said: “With every painting I lay rows and patterns of colour in stripes and crosses, swirls and spills, in order to seek the right balance of light, water and time, whilst capturing the ballet of nature. My paintings are simple in basic structure and yet with close examination they confound reason with quantum detail. Hundreds of thousands of micro-strokes and movement form each composition.”

Having painted for over 35 years, Echo’s work is held in many collections around the World both public and private and has captured the imagination of one of the UK’s most notorious fashion designers Paul Smith who commissioned Echo to form the principal pattern for his women’s spring/summer 2011 collection, which captivated audiences at 2010’s London Fashion Week.

The three new limited edition prints in his portfolio will accompany a back catalogue of work as well as original paintings starting at just £350 framed. Alex will dedicate any piece of art purchased on the day.

Drinks will be served.
