Retorica - violin duo comprising of Harriet Mackenzie and Philippa Mo will celebrate the London release of their debut CD of British works for two violins, on the NMC label, with a London launch concert at LSO St Lukes on Sunday 2nd September, 7.30pm. This innovative concert features works written for the duo by the prestigious composers John McCabe, David Matthews and Jim Aitchison. The duo will also be performing the excellent ‘Theme and Variations’ by Alan Rawsthorne, an early work by William Croft and the E.J Moeran Sonata For Two Violins. Retorica are the first musicians to commercially record this masterpiece. The duo will be joined by the composers for a pre-concert talk to discuss the repertoire, the composing process and the composers’ long artistic relationships with the duo.
