Poplar 2012- Games on the Screen

Poplar 2012 : The Games on The Screen is a free family event delivered by housing & regeneration community association Poplar HARCA. The event gives the chance for the local Poplar community to come together to enjoy and celebrate the exciting global event taking place in their back yard.

Set over the weekend of 4/5 August 2012, a large screen will show streamed Olympic content to local people on Langdon Park, E14, as well as community films and, each day, a family-friendly sport-related feature film.

Picnicing will be welcomed, though the event will be alcohol-free, with glass bottles and barbeques will not be allowed. Food stalls with Halal options (for those breaking the Ramadan fast) will be available, as well as an ice-cream and a candy floss.

The park will be fenced off with security in place to ensure the event can be enjoyed by local people and families. A bag search will be required upon entry.

Poplar is one of the closest communities to the Olympic Village and this is one of the few free Olympic events. Poplar 2012 : The Games on The Screen will provide a wonderful opportunity for residents to be part of and celebrate the Greatest Show on Earth coming to Poplar.
