The Place quietly opened its doors on the 26th of May. It started as a dream, seemed like an illusion, became a possibility, and led to an opportunity. It has now been two months of oven pizza making, music and dancing, people conversing and mingling, coffee drinking, film watching, and a lot more entertaining activities. It was time to take it one step further and invite six of our regulars to exhibit their talents on our walls around a communal theme, Portraits.

We asked them to show us, with three pieces from their work and a simple but strong subject, portraits, the depth of their passion, the accuracy of their eye, the violence of their art. They are from Russia, Poland, Spain, England, and New Zealand, they are Londoners, and through their queer eye they paint, draw, illustrate and photograph people from the city they made their own, from their past, from their travels.

Stav B, visual artist, performer, director of The Place and Londoner for more than twenty years now, brings together the artists she met along her way and will use her eclectic experience in the art to put together the exhibition.

On the night of the opening:
Food from our new chef, Cristian Gaimarris.
DJ: Polanski http://soundcloud.com/polanski
Live act: Le Squid.
Come and celebrate with us!
Love.
