Cuban / Latin Salsa Album Launch Party - with Son Yambu live

There’s no need to travel to Cuba to catch the sounds of the Buena Vista Social Club! London based Cuban band Son Yambu have recorded the first ever ‘son’ album right here in the UK. The new album La Maravilla will be released on 10th September and the official CD launch will be held at The Latin Groove Lounge Club opposite Archway station in North London on 14th September.

The launch takes place at El Rumbon Cubano, a monthly Cuban style party, where you can dance the night away to top DJs playing the cream of Cuban sounds including salsa, timba and son and listen to some of the best of Cuba’s UK based musicians playing live. This friendly party has been attracting loyal followers of all nationalities and from all walks of life for over five years now.

The album includes a mixture of original songs written in the ‘cradle’ of son – Santiago de Cuba, together with some well known covers. The band features the phenomenal vocal talents of female dynamo Yuri Moreno, accompanied by Tony Danger, Victor Hechavarria, Rey Crespo, Raudelis ‘Piki’ Quiala Cisneros and Alejandro Tellez Sanchez. The album is fantastic and feedback from the band’s initial London gigs has been hugely positive.

Well known face on the Cuban dance scene - DJ, teacher and compère extraordinaire Richard Fallon will be on the decks until 4am keeping the dance floor blazing with an impressive selection of your favourite Cuban salsa and timba.

As well as keeping your ears as sweet as honey with his choice of Cuban tunes, Richard will be hosting a rueda dance class at the start of the night. His classes are always great fun so come and add some Cuban sabor to your dancing: 9 -10 pm
