Activity leader: Dr Eleanor Robson, University of Cambridge
Suitable for ages 9 and above
4000 years ago, most children didn’t go to school but had to start work as soon as they could. But what was school like for the children that did go? Who were those children and what lessons did they take? This hands-on, interactive session will recreate a Babylonian classroom, and explore the basics of reading, writing, and counting in cuneiform on clay tablets.
Organised by The British Institute for the Study of Iraq (Gertrude Bell Memorial) and The Iraqi Cultural Centre.
