South London based visual artist George Williams is set to bring ‘Stories for grown ups’ to the fantastically atmospheric Misty Moon Gallery in Ladywell from 11-15 September- a show that will invite the audience to create their own narratives, using the work as a starting point.

Williams trained in Sculpture at Dundee University before returning to his home stomping grounds of Lewisham to teach. After writing several children’s books, he realised that a lot of his ideas were non-linear and not really aimed at children, resulting in ‘Stories for grown ups’- narratives in which the
beginning and end are left up to the audience.

Capturing moments and fragments of narrative, Williams describes the exhibition as “A mixture of drawings that tell part of a story, so the audience can fill in the blanks with something that makes sense to them personally”.

The show will also feature photographs of installations, all put together in the Borough of Lewisham with the intention of capturing what Williams calls “Intuitive, instinctive stuff that happens in your head before you have to put an idea into words”.

‘Stories for grown ups’ is FREE ENTRY, come along to the preview night on Wednesday 12 September from 7pm-late at Misty Moon Gallery.

Watch a preview trailer and interview with George Williams about the exhibition on his website; or search for the Misty Moon Gallery for more details.
