An experience which sweeps you up and spirits you into a personal world of sound and visual adventure.

Director: Hannah Bruce
Composer / Sound Designer: Jonathan Eato
Writer: Matthew Morrison
Performers: Sophie Arstall, Luke Ganz, and Sam Lawrence
Actor’s Voices: Dan Starkey and Helen Longworth

Recent finalists in the annual Oxford Samuel Beckett Theatre Trust Award, elected for their ‘boldness and innovation', Hannah Bruce & Company presents this site-specific work in the familiar rooms, corridors and forgotten spaces of Wilton’s. With the aid of headphones each audience member is taken on a private journey, with dance at its core, crafted in response to the buildings own architecture. An original score by Jonathan Eato immerses the viewer in an intense, private world.

"I was a private witness… a world of shadows, reflections and your own private silence… very tight, profound.”

"The Look Of The Thing took place in a school I am familiar with, however, the performance led me through the building in quite a different way, sensually, poetically and unexpectedly. It was a beautiful experience."
Mark Baldwin, Artistic Director, Rambert Dance Company
