Out of the Box! Photography exhibition

New photography exhibition by artist Julia Spicer, part of Photomonth East London.

When cameras became widely available in the 20th century, we snapped away diligently. In the pre-digital age every precious image was carefully retained for posterity, no matter how blurred, fogged or mistakenly cropped. Through a combination of archival images and new work made with locally-manufactured cameras, Spicer reveals the potency and charm of these images, inspiring us all to experiment with vintage equipment and view our own family snaps in a new light.

Photographs are combined with vintage cameras and historic artefacts from the Museum’s rich collection.
