The Oslo Jazz Festival presents the all-star OSLO JAZZ BAND in celebration of the world-renown festival's 30th Anniversary. This will be one of a series of celebratory concerts performed in major jazz.

The mouth-watering line-up comprises:

The Oslo Jazz Festival Orchestra 2016

2016 is The Oslo Jazz Festival's 30th. anniversary, and to mark the occasion they've gathered some of Norway's top jazz musicians. A band consisting of some of our most experienced musicians alongside of some of the most promising young names in the game. The festival strived to cross the generational gap and with five musicians that have made an impact on the festival and their audience.

The Oslo Jazz Festival Orchestra 2016 consists of Mathias Eick, Trygve Seim, Jon Balke, Gard Nilssen and Ellen Andrea Wang.

Each musician has carved out their own distinct musical voice and path, and they'll all contribute with their own style through new specially written compositions for this project - and of course their way of communicating with eachother and the audience through their instruments.

Mathias Eick (36) plays different instruments, but trumpet now is his most important. He has played in the groups Motif, Trondheim Jazz Orchestra and Jaga Jazzist. As a solo artist he has 3 releases on ECM, all with rave reviews. Eick has also collaborated with Lars Danielsson, and Manu Katché.

Trygve Seim (44) is saxophonist with a long track record as a distinct and personal musician and composer. He is leading his own bands and projects, but is also an active participant in others. Many of his projects are released on ECM. He is also a member of The Source and plays with Jacob Young and Sinikka Langeland.

Jon Balke (60) plays piano and is the Nestor of the band. He has from the late 70s been a driving force in Norwegian jazz and participated in band with Radka Toneff, Sidsel Endresen, and in Masqualero (with/Jon Christens...
