KAYAK Virtual Voyage Experience

To escape the January blues and get away from the grey skies of the city, Brits need a little bit of sun and sand to recharge the batteries at the start of the year.

KAYAK.co.uk, thetravel search engine, invites you to experience the Virtual Voyage, an all-new cutting-edge virtual reality experience which takes users on a fully-immersive holiday to a mystery far-flung sun-soaked location. During the experience, users can feel the sand between their toes – for real – whilst the virtual reality aspect uses the leading VR headset which was released just last month and is powered by the latest virtual reality technology.

The 360 degree experience is shot using six high definition cameras, which combine to create a seamless ‘sphere’ of video content. The experience – curated by KAYAK.co.uk – places users right in the middle of the action, filling the user’s entire field of vision and tracking head movements with a gyroscope, orientation sensor and accelerometer. All this comes together to create the illusion of reality and trick the user’s brain into feeling like they really are in the sun-drenched virtual reality world.

The experience is totally free of charge – Londoners simply need to turn up between 10:30am and 8pm on the day to try it out for themselves.
