**Alan Clayson and the Argonauts** “were one of rock’s most glorious and enjoyable follies, and somewhere there is a parallel universe where they are bigger than The Beatles” (Rock ‘N’ Reel) and hold "a premier position on rock’s Lunatic Fringe" (Melody Maker).

In the late 1970s Clayson was being spoken of and written about in the same paragraphs as Wreckless Eric, John Otway, Tom Robinson and Elvis Costello, and featured in a BBC Radio One In Concert (which turned up on a 2001 bootleg CD).

Notoriety and cult glories aplenty but the Argonauts eventually succumbed to the treacherous seas of showbiz: no golden fleece. That was presumed to be that until a telephone call from out of the blue in summer 2005 from Damaged Goods records resulted in the release of "Sunset On A Legend", a double-CD retrospective, and a reformation for a sensational farewell performance – which turned out to be the first of many. Here’s another not to be missed for fans of post-punking pre-punking outre outsider rock'n'roll.

Plus **The Bronsons** – pub rock and rhythm'n'booze revivalists in a Brinsley Scwartz via Ducks Deluxe sense, plus a bit of acidic Dr Feelgood punky boogie woogie oh yes. The Count Bishops and The Inmates are also reference points via a little counter cultural trippy blues. A great night out in themselves.

And **Eliphant** - psych pop , strains of late 60’s U.S. garage pop too, but this has that R'n'B fuelled slightly whimsical late 60’s brit feel, decently hooky and an authentic retro sound, fine work.
