Hong Kong Episodes: Let jazz-classical music evocative imagery as your tour guide for a day in Hong Kong

With evocative imagery by architect Anthony LAI, Hong Kong Episodes is a cross between cinema, jazz and classical music. Describing four facets of Hong Kong during the course of a virtual day it evokes the city’s cosmopolitan cityscape, its fast-paced lifestyle; opportunities for spiritual retreat and ever-colourful heritage and culture.

The music is written collaboratively by two Hong Kong young musicians, Teriver CHEUNG, international jazz guitarist, and composer Fung LAM, the youngest Chinese composer and first Hong Kong composer ever commissioned by the BBC as well as winner of Hong Kong Arts Development Council Award for Young Artist (Music). Joined by a fine jazz quartet and 11 top chamber players from the Hong Kong Contemporary Music Group, this amazing tapestry of original music and landscape visuals weaves its visual and aural magic to leave a lasting impression of Hong Kong’s charm. Performed in London at Wilton’s, the world’s oldest surviving Music Hall, here old and new come face to face.

Hong Kong Episodes was premièred at the World Cultures Festival 2015 presented by Hong Kong’s Leisure and Cultural Services Department.
