JUXTAPOSITIONS collage salon

JUXTAPOSITIONS is a two hour collage workshop, located in our east London studio, suitable for beginners, where participants will be guided through the process of composing a personal, idiosyncratic, cut out paper collage made up from eclectic fragments of magazines, newspapers, leaflets, packaging, posters etc.

Paper collage has a rich artistic heritage and enjoyed it's heyday during the Dada and Surrealist era in the early 20th century and continues to have a strong influence on contemporary art practice. The process of selecting images and text, carefully cutting them out and experimenting with the potential compositional juxtapositions and random arrangements draws out unexpected, subconscious narratives and challenging, spontaneous perspectives.

Each workshop accommodates a small group of participants, making it easy to socialize and exchange creative ideas and make new friends.
