Connaught Village, Hyde Park Estate’s luxury retail quarter, is proud to announce that it will be celebrating the 50th year of the Horseman’s Sunday, when many horses from the Hyde Park stables gather in central London at St John’s Hyde Park Church for a blessing and giving of thanks. The equestrian event remembers a 1967 protest that saw riders take to their horses to challenge the closure of the area’s stables. The tradition has continued and the celebratory service will begin at 10am on Sunday 17th September.

The service will feature a delightful orchestra and church choir. All the children who attend will be able to take part in various activities around the Eucharist, led by entertainer, Custard the Clown and his ‘horse’ sidekick, Caramel, before rejoining their parents to take the Holy Communion.

After the Eucharist service, guests can enjoy a fun féte that will take place outside the church. This will include a large area of children’s activities such as hook-a-duck, face painting and a book tombola. Easy listening jazz music from Nico Sabatini can be enjoyed, and there will be a wide range of stalls and delicious free food such as cakes, popcorn, and sweets for the children.

At 12pm, the colourful horse parade will begin, where the horses assemble at the front of the church for a service of Blessing and Thanksgiving. This will be followed by a second, larger parade around the surrounding area. This fun filled event will make for a great family day out in Connaught Village.
