The young pianist Maria Marchant launches her debut album Echoes of Land & Sea with a recital of English music by Britten, Holst and Ireland. There will be a special introduction from the composer and baritone Roderick Williams, who has composed two new works especially for Marchant.

Following Marchant’s first performance of Roddy Williams' piece Goodwood by the Sea last year, Williams commented: “I am hugely grateful to Maria for her haunting, magical premiere of Goodwood by the Sea - it was a great compliment to me and a sign of her dedicated professionalism. She brought my music alive with great sensitivity and made it glow in a way I had not imagined possible.”

Maria Marchant has long been a passionate advocate of British music, making her acclaimed Wigmore Hall and Southbank debuts in 2010 with British programmes. Since being selected as a young artist by the Concordia Foundation, Park Lane Group and Tillett Trust schemes, Marchant has been much in demand as a recitalist and has performed at numerous festivals, including Shipley Arts Festival, where she is pianist-in-residence.
