Now in his late 20's this outstanding Hungarian saxophonist has been making quite an impression on the European jazz scene of late. After commencing his studies as a teenager at the Béla Bartók Conservatory in Miskolc, Sandor went on to specialise in Jazz studies at the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music in Budapest. Graduating in 2011 he then went on to get his masters degree in music from the University of Graz, finally graduating in 2014. Since then his incisive, fluent and melodic sax playing has been heard with a host of established names on the European jazz scene, including the likes of the iconic pianist Béla Szakcsi Lakatos, Robert Lakatos, Gábor Bolla, Kálmán Oláh and György Orbán. The music, a mix of contemporary jazz standards and originals, will be an exhilarating example of pan-European collaboration at the very highest level of virtuosity featuring a world-class rhythm section of Gareth Williams (Claire Martin, Pee Wee Ellis) piano, Yuri Goloubev (Gwilym Simcock, Bob James) bass and the award-winning UK drummer Martin France (Yellowjackets, Kenny Wheeler).
The 606 Club’s “Musician’s XChange Programme” was founded to facilitate artistic dialogue as well as performance opportunities for British jazz musicians in Europe and European jazz musicians in the UK.
