Take four great 606 Club regulars, a collection of classic songs from their favourite artists, add some jazz and soul grooves and you have..."The Jacqui Hicks Band". Showcasing the sensational voice of Shakatak’s Jacqui Hicks along with former Jamiroquai keyboard player Simon Carter, ace session musician Phil Mulford on bass and original Cutting Crew drummer Frosty Beedle this is a band that delivers new twists on soul classics and reworked jazz standards in real style. Born out of a regular gig in Kingston (London, not Jamaica!), this band have actually been playing together for more than 10 years, but it was only when they decided to record an album that they suddenly realised they had something they could actually take "on the road". And so not only was the album, "The Boaters Project", released to some serious critical acclaim but at the same time a gigging Band was created! And what a band, whose combined cv's include work with the likes of Lionel Ritchie, Matt Bianco, Beyonce, Jamiroquai, Craig David, 10CC, Corinne Bailey Rae, Ronny Jordan, Annie Lennox, Ronan Keating, Westlife, Beverley Knight, Take That, Will Young, The Bee Gees and Gloria Gaynor. The music, which encompasses songs from the likes of Chaka Khan, Otis Redding, Stevie Wonder and James Taylor, is beautifully crafted and quite wonderfully performed. This is a terrific band (and album!) performed by some of our favourite musicians and highly recommended.

"Jacqui Hicks...a singer of warmth, poise and intelligence whose smoky voice is a pleasure to listen to." Yorkshire Post
