An eccentric mix of get-on-the-dance-floor music, rap and spoken word weave a coming-of-age story that is both hilarious and heart breaking in equal measure…

Love Songs is a little one-woman-show that explores the personal and political puzzles of our love lives through the autobiographical poems of a hopeless romantic. It is a classic tale of classroom crushes and awkward bedroom encounters – a cautionary guidebook on how to navigate the millennial dating scene – a glimpse under the covers at our deepest desires and the all-consuming fear of ending up alone. Enlisting the help of everyone from the audience to Elvis, Queen B to Bublé, and Macy Gray to Marvin Gaye, Love Songs hopes to be something that’s surprisingly relatable, but just a little bit different.

Why? Because ultimately, this is the story about him. This is the story about the one.

16+ Explores adult themes and sexual violence.

Love Songs came into being as a collaboration between poet and performer Alissa Anne Jeun Yi (@alissa_ajy) and bold, emerging theatre company Trip Hazards (@_TripHazards). It returns to Camden People's Theatre for their renowned 'Calm Down Dear' Festival of Feminism 2018 after a successful debut at The Shape of Things To Come Festival 2017.

Praise for previous performances:

"Totally engaging from the warm up to the end. One of those shows I will think about for years…a very gifted communicator. Technically brilliant.”

"Dealt with a difficult subject matter with humour and pathos."
