Finchley Symphony Orchestra returns to central London for an evening of dramatic Russian orchestral masterpieces.
Tchaikovsky’s first Piano Concerto is too well known to need description, crammed with the drama and melody typical of its composer. Our young soloist, making a welcome return to St James’s, is Asagi Nakata, winner of competitions including the EPTA Belgian International, the Franz Liszt competition in Weimar and semi-finalist in the 2017 International Franz Liszt Piano Competition. Rachmaninov’s epic and hugely popular second Symphony and Shostakovich’s lively Festive Overture complete a programme packed with Russian fire and passion. The concert is conducted by David Lardi.
