Chaos Theory's first event of 2018 and part of the 8 Years Of Chaos weekend. A very special lineup for monthly series The Facemelter…

-------------------------
DARKHER

A slightly different set up than usual from the intriguing and haunting spirit that is Jayn H. Wissenberg, a West Yorkshire-based vocalist and songwriter whose powerful, captivating music is characterised by slowly building storm clouds of guitars and haunting, spine-tingling vocals. The sound of DARKHER is veined by both an unsettling atmosphere of encroaching dread and a deep, otherworldly confidence.

We’ve seen her captivating performances when sharing the stage with Wardruna, Emma Ruth Rundle and SubRosa and were totally spellbound every time.

“With her endless waves of deep red hair and a shamanic presence that seems to come from a possibly mythical time long past. And that voice, of course: uniquely and spine-tinglingly evocative – but it’s all done without any arrogance or pretension.” – Louder Than War Magazine

“A haunting, beautiful, teeth-edging horror and it’s utterly brilliant.” – Ghost Cult Magazine

Dystopian Future Movies

Newcomers to The Facemelter, but a name that's gripped the post-rock, shoegaze, doom and post-metal scenes over the last few years by supporting bands including Amenra, Subrosa and Crippled Black Phoenix, touring with Fvnerals and playing Desertfest London 2017.

Taking a Sonic Youth approach, but arriving at some dark place between Neurosis and Chelsea Wolfe, Dystopian Future Movies have crafted a unique combination of discordant layers, atmospheric swells and colossal heaviness.

Weaving lyrical catharsis with hypnotic vocal melodies, Irish-born Caroline Cawley uses an evolving experimental guitar sound that expands into massive doomscapes through collaboration with seasoned metal/prog drummer Bill Fisher, and new members Oisin O'Doherty on bass and Rafe on guitar.

They released their debut album 'Time' in June, to massive media acclaim, so we're very flattered that they've chosen to help us kick the year off in style!

"Builds from a whisper to a roar with an incredible amount of restraint" - The Quietus

"Finds beauty in sadness" - Louder Than War Magazine

"Utterly captivating." - Ghost Cult Magazine

"Dystopian Future Movies' drone-like sludge is juxtaposed with finesse against beautifully gentle arpeggios." - Echoes And Dust

-------------------------
SODEN

A band from Worcestershire who lay down colossal slabs of doom, laced with grunge riffs and a sludgey edge.

The trio have also recently released their first full-length album 'Led By Foxes' (out on Black Bow Records) and it packs a punch, so get there early to discover these guys.

"Not only do they have the guts to delve into the murky, thundering depths of doom metal, Soden have the power and tight skill to take fierce command of a venue" - Slap Mag

"Cracking riffs and the pacing is great" - When Planets Collide
