The life and death of African hero Thomas Sankara, President of Burkina Faso (1983 -1987) takes centre stage at the Cockpit Theatre in London in a play written and directed by Ricky Dujany.

Sankara was one of the few Presidents in history who took a clear stance against the powers that subjugate the world with endless debt and foreign aid scams. "He who feeds you controls you” was one of his mottos.

Thomas Sankara was the first African leader to favour women’s rights and among the first ones to appoint women in important positions in the Cabinet, like the Minister of Budget.  Without the liberation of women, for President Sankara, the Revolution was unthinkable.

Feminist, upright and incorruptible, Sankara was assassinated like many other leaders of truth.

“Sankara” project caught the attention of UK superstar Levi Roots (the most successful contestant in BBC2 Dragon's Den) who wrote the original songs for the play. His expert band will be playing live in every performance, in a celebration of African traditions and ritual dance.

The lead role of Thomas Sankara will be played by Ike Chuks, an afrobeat and hiphop artist who won Britain’s Got Talent in 2009 with dancing group “Diversity”.

Mr Chuks won the IARA'S award for the best UK afrobeat artist of 2017 and "SANKARA" marks his debut as an actor.
