Marie Klimis presents a new immersive site-specific show exploring library spaces through pop-up books, miniature sets, sound installations and intimate theatre performances.

Show description:

What if books could talk? Part-treasure hunt, part-immersive theatre, The Paper Traveller is a storytelling journey across London libraries exploring the imaginary worlds concealed inside books. Through pop-up books, miniature papercut sets, sound installations and live theatre performances, this intimate show takes visitors on an adventure through books and explores what happens if you get lost in one.

This experience is for one audience member at a time: visitors are equipped with headphones and travel across library spaces, meeting weird and wonderful characters on the way. But beware, book travelling is not for the faint-hearted and only the brave will survive the journey.

Performances last 45 minutes and two audience members can start the experience every 10 minutes.

This event is part of the Wandsworth Arts Fringe.

About the artist:

Marie Klimis is a writer, storyteller and theatre designer specialised in site-specific performance projects: for the last ten years, she has brought art to the strangest possible spaces, from stations to public aquariums, museum lifts, church crypts or underground tunnels. Her work focuses on multidisciplinary projects combining storytelling with sound design, puppetry and traditional crafts. She is interested in making arts more accessible and bringing performances outside of theatre venues, creating work that is inclusive, challenging and fun for people of all ages and backgrounds.
