The Leipzig Connection

The two directors of Teddington Summer Music are joined by an ensemble led by the distinguished violinist Madeleine Mitchell and containing some of London’s finest string players for a programme brimming with good tunes and rich lyricism. For centuries Leipzig has been a major musical centre, and most of tonight’s composers share a connection with the city, either as resident, student, visiting performer, or musical pilgrim. By a happy coincidence, 2 June is Elgar’s birthday. The concert also includes two clarinet concertos that show off the instrument in all its variety.
