Jacob Kenedy (of Bocca di Lupo fame as we all know), opened the pub in 2017 as a tribute to his great grandmother Carrie B Schwing. Carrie opened the original Plaquemine Lock, which was built to allow passage from Bayou Plaquemine onto the Mississippi, in 1909, and her name adorned the first steamboat that passed through it.

Plaquemine Lock is proud to host a series of live music sessions every Wednesday, showcasing exceptional talents in jazz and blues.

Guests are invited to transport themselves to Louisiana, while they enjoy some comforting classic Southern dishes. These include blackened salmon served with creamed corn and fried green tomato; gumbo shrimp, and pecan pie.

Live acts include The Red Hot Rags, Nokoh Duo and Mississippi MacDonald.
