Attend a wide range of events about the extraordinary story of the Huguenots, who fled religious persecution in France during the 16th to 18th centuries and settled in England. As part of Women: Work and Power, many of the events will focus on the lives and achievements of key Huguenot women and female Huguenot descendants. Learn about Jeanne D’Albret, a Protestant Queen in a largely Catholic France; Harriet Martineau, considered the first female sociologist; and discover the remarkable lives of ordinary Huguenot women. Throughout October, Huguenot Month will feature guided walks, Tea & Talks, lectures, music, film, food, and a Skills of the Huguenots Day.
