Savile Row tailor Richard Anderson will be in conversation with Deputy Editor of The Jackal magazine, Aleksandar Cvetkovic to discuss tailoring, menswear and style.

Having started working on Savile Row as a 17-year-old apprentice, Richard Anderson worked his way up to head cutter at Huntsman, before founding Richard Anderson Ltd with Brian Lishak in 2001. He is perfectly placed to share his expertise on the evolving art of tailoring and how technics and styles have changed to suit the 21st century customer. In conversation with Aleksandar Cvetkovic, Deputy Editor of The Jackal magazine, Anderson will be discussing key garments every man should have in his wardrobe and when it is the right moment to take the leap into bespoke.

In Making the Cut (£29.95, Thames & Hudson), Richard Anderson’s second book, is a lively bible of sartorial knowhow full of insight, information and inspiration. It introduces the traditional craft of cutting a bespoke suit and garments, showcasing twenty-five classic menswear designs that have been creatively adapted in new and unusual ways for the modern gentleman. Much of the book is dedicated to showcasing the craft and dedication that goes in to creating a bespoke suit in the time-honoured tradition of Savile Row. The book is divided into five sections – Light Fare, Strong Suits, Atypical Tweeds, Top Coats and Regalia Redux – it’s a source of inspiration for anyone with an interest in menswear, traditional craftsmanship or just wants to look at some beautiful suits!

Richard Anderson has worked on Savile Row for over thirty-five years, becoming Huntsman’s youngest head cutter in its 150 year history. Making the Cut is Anderson’s second book, after Bespoke – Savile Row Ripped and Smoothed, published in 2010.

Aleks Cvetkovic is Deputy Editor of The Jackal magazine, London’s lifestyle magazine for men who appreciate intelligent luxury. He’s a long-time Savile Row enthusiast, men’s style writer and editor.

The event starts at 6pm with a glass of wine in the Museum foyer and opportunity to view the current exhibition. The talk follows at 6.15pm for 6.20pm in the Fashion Studio and lasts for approximately one hour including an opportunity to ask questions, followed by a book signing in the foyer. Ticket includes admission to the exhibition and guests are welcome to view this before or after the talk.
